In this part of the DTZ exam, you have to fill in gaps in a text. We will show you how to solve this task easily and quickly. This will help you prepare well for the exam.
First, read the whole text quickly. Try to understand the main topic. Who is writing to whom? What is the text about?
Proceed gap by gap. Focus on one gap at a time. Read the sentence before and after the gap carefully. This helps you find the right word.
Look at the three options (A, B, C). Consider: Which word fits grammatically? Is it a preposition, a conjunction, or a pronoun?
Read the sentence with each option aloud (in your head). Does the sentence sound right? Does the word fit the meaning of the sentence?
When you have filled all the gaps, read the entire text one more time. Check if the text is now logical and grammatically correct.
This part is the second cloze test in the exam. You will get a short text, usually an email or a letter. In this text, 6 words are missing. For each gap, there are three possible answers (A, B, C). You must choose the correct word for each gap.
This task tests your grammar and vocabulary. You have a total of 10 minutes for this part and Part 5 (Sprachbausteine Part 1) combined.
The text is about 60 to 80 words long. It is often a formal or semi-formal message. For example, an inquiry to a public authority, an application, or an email to a teacher.

The points from the Sprachbausteine (Parts 5 and 6) count towards the written part of the exam. The written part consists of Listening, Reading, and the Sprachbausteine. There is no separate grade just for the Sprachbausteine.
